TRAVEL GUIDE

What to do in Pornic?

During your stay in Pornic, you’ll make the most of your spare time to explore the city center and its ancient narrow streets. You’ll also enjoy walking along the Sentier des Douaniers, Pornic’s other unmissable site, allowing you to discover some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Bay of Bourgneuf. The fishing port will be your point of departure. By heading Wast, you’ll go around the Sainte-Marie circuit, until Saint-Gildas de Préfailles point. From here you can admire a 180-degree vista sweeping across the ocean and the Loire estuary. By opting to set off south-east, you’ll pace along the Fisheries circuit leading to La Bernerie-en-Retz and Moutiers-en-Retz. On your way, you’ll be able to take a look at the La Joselière dolmen, raised around 3500 before our time. When back in our hotel close to la Birochere beach, you’ll enjoy taking a break on the sand, in a cove with large rocks jutting out of it.

Top pick of Pornic’s leading specialties

Our Golden Tulip, facing the land on one side, and the ocean on the other, is the perfect location in which to try some of the specialties famed across the Retz countryside as well as the Nantes region. You’ll take advantage of your stay in our hotel in Pornic to treat yourself to a gourmet getaway focused on local produce such as “La Plainaise” Bouchot mussels, prepared marinara-style with quality white wines such as Muscadet or Gros Plant. Also central to Côte de Jade cuisine, oysters from the Bay Bourgneuf are served warm, cooked with shallots, or can be sampled cold with a slice of lemon and toast with Guérande salted butter. Acquainting yourself with Pornic’s culinary traditions also means completing your meals with the authentic flavors of Curé Nantais. This is a characterful cow’s milk cheese inseparable from the local heritage.
