What to do in Baghdad?
Between historical relics, religious buildings and museums, many points of cultural interest await you in the capital of Iraq. Located on the other side of the Tigris, it is accessible in less than fifteen minutes by car. At the National Museum of Iraq, 10 minutes from our hotel, you can contemplate the archaeological treasures of Mesopotamia. Founded in the 13th century, Al-Mustansiriya University remains, today, a benchmark institutional center in the country. It’s there, a little over 60 miles from our 4 star hotel in Baghdad, that you can discover the ruins of the legendary Babylon. Formerly famous for its hanging gardens, it is one of the major archaeological sites in the country. From our hotel, only about thirty kilometers separate you from other ruins of ancient civilizations, such as Ur, with the ziggurat characteristic of Sumerian culture, or Dûr-Kurigalzu, on the banks of the Euphrates, revealed by the excavations of Aqar Quf. Finally, southeast of Baghdad remain vestiges of Taq Kisra, the vaulted palace of the old Parthian town of Ctesiphon.
