TRAVEL GUIDE

What to do in Kampala

During your trip, take the time to admire the royal tombs of Kasubi. This historic and religious site is the burial place of the last four Kabakas (kings of Buganda). Our hotel near the Uganda Golf Club is the starting point for exciting visits, like those of national theater and its craft village or the Nommo art gallery. These addresses will allow you to get to know contemporary Ugandan culture. To learn more about the history of the country, you will direct your steps towards the national museum of Uganda, known for its collection of traditional musical instruments and its section of archeology going back to the stone age. Other must-sees in Kampala: the central mosque, considered to be the largest in all of sub-Saharan Africa, and Rubaga Cathedral, with its elegant red brick facade and rich stained glass windows.

The most beautiful natural landscapes around the city

One hour's drive from Lake Victoria, our hotel in Kampala allows you to reach some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the vicinity of the Ugandan capital. Head for Entebbe, from where the ferry departs for the Ngamba. Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary. It’s a safe place where orphan primates live in semi-freedom, safe from poachers. Further south, you will set foot on Bugala Island, a little corner of paradise in the heart of the Ssese archipelago. Still north of Lake Victoria, you hoist your sails towards Jinja, where the source of the Nile is located. 3,700 miles from the pyramids of Luxor, you will be filled with strong emotions during a kayak trip on one of the longest rivers in the world. Upon returning to Kampala, you can end your day on a gourmet note by tasting the delicious local specialties served at our Golden Tulip restaurant. Another way to pay tribute to the heritage of Uganda!
